Jones Takes Oath of Office as State Representative
January 4, 2023
HARRISBURG – Rep. Tom Jones (R-Lancaster/Lebanon) was officially sworn into office, along with 199 other members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, during a ceremony at the state Capitol on Tuesday. Jones is beginning his initial, two-year term serving the 98th Legislative District, which includes parts of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties.
“As I stood with my hand on the Bible, I pledged to ‘support, obey, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of this Commonwealth',” Jones said following the swearing-in ceremony. “With God’s help, I intend to work every day to uphold that oath and to serve as a voice for the people and communities that I serve.”
Jones’ priorities during the 2023-24 legislative session include:
- upholding the sanctity of life;
- protecting Second Amendment rights;
- improving election integrity so Pennsylvania voters have trust in our election process;
- helping parents have a stronger influence in decisions surrounding their children's education and giving parents access to curriculum details in our public schools;
- fighting to keep government spending in check so that taxpayers can keep more of their hard-earned money.
Jones has opened a district office in Elizabethtown at 222 S. Market Street. Residents may contact the office at (717)367-5525.
“We’re already busy helping lots of local residents,” Jones said. “I know that a big part of this job is helping people solve state-related issues. My office staff and I are enjoying the opportunity to help constituents find some solutions and cut through government red tape when possible.”
Prior to his election to the House of Representatives, Jones was a small business owner and served as chairman of the East Donegal Township Board of Supervisors. Jones and his wife, Rochelle, are the parents of four children and live in Maytown.
The 98th Legislative District was reconfigured during last year’s redistricting process. The district now consists of part of Lancaster County consisting of the townships of Conoy, East Donegal, Mount Joy and West Donegal and the boroughs of Elizabethtown, Marietta and Mount Joy; and part of Lebanon County consisting of the townships of South Annville and South Londonderry and the borough of Mount Gretna.
