State Lawmakers to Host Town Hall on School Property Tax Elimination

May 11, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tom Jones (R-Lancaster/Lebanon) will host guests Rep. Wendy Fink (R-Red Lion), Sen. Dawn Keefer (R-Cumberland/York) and former Rep. Frank Ryan for a town hall to discuss solutions to the growing school property tax burden on homeowners and business owners in Pennsylvania. The town hall will be held on Wednesday, May 27, from 6-8 p.m. at Elizabethtown High School, 600 E. High St., Elizabethtown.

The town hall will give residents the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences and learn about legislation that could provide meaningful relief, including Fink’s House Bill 1649 and Keefer’s Senate Bill 962, both of which would eliminate school property taxes in Pennsylvania.

“For far too long, Pennsylvania homeowners and employers have carried the heavy and unpredictable burden of school property taxes. This town hall is an opportunity for residents to learn more about potential solutions that would eliminate these taxes and replace them with a fairer system,” Jones said, “I encourage anyone interested in property tax relief to attend, ask questions and be part of the conversation about how we can better protect taxpayers while continuing to support quality education for our students.”

Residents can get an idea about how their taxes would change under these proposals by visiting noprop.tax. Annual income, property taxes paid annually and retirement income are required to use the calculator.

RSVPs for the event are requested. Please call Jones’ office at 717-367-5525 or visit RepTomJones.com/Events to confirm your attendance.
