Jones: $1.6 Million in Grant Funding Awarded to District for Improvement Projects

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tom Jones (R-Lancaster/Lebanon) announced that the 98th Legislative District received nearly $1.6 million in Local Share Account grants for projects to improve infrastructure and to purchase needed equipment for public works and public safety.

“These projects demonstrate the value of investing in the equipment and infrastructure that our communities rely on every day. Whether it’s modern rescue tools for firefighters, helping townships maintain roads, strengthening water and wastewater systems, or improving public spaces and pedestrian safety, these investments address real local needs,” Jones said. “I’m pleased to support these projects and help ensure our communities have the resources they need to provide reliable services and remain strong places to live and work.”

Funding has been awarded as follows:
• Conoy Township, on behalf of the Bainbridge Fire Company, received $360,503 to replace 35-year-old hydraulic rescue equipment with battery-operated rescue tools and purchase portable and mobile radios to comply with the county’s transition to a digital emergency radio system.
• Conoy Township received $308,465 to purchase a new dump truck equipped with a plow and salt spreader, as well as a mini excavator and attachments.
• Elizabethtown Borough, on behalf of the Elizabethtown Area Water Authority, received $269,100 to install bypass pumps and related controls at the Clearwell facility.
• Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority received $409,090 to improve the Marietta Trailhead Lot 1 in East Donegal Township along the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail with a new parking lot, curbs, sidewalks, stormwater improvements, bike racks, benches, a water fountain, trash receptacles and public restrooms.
• Mount Joy Borough received $29,963 to purchase 72 water-filled barricades to improve pedestrian safety, crowd control and traffic management during community events.
• Mount Joy Borough Authority received $185,401 to purchase a new compact teleloader and pickup broom.

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
